With a day “in-house” planned, and really scraping around for subject matter, a tour of the premises seemed appropriate.

Many of the paths lead to the pool.
Pool Guardian
No idea
Breakfast served with a pool view, and today, included ginger tea as protection against the wee beastie.
As usual, the gardeners are encouraged to show off a bit, and lots of shapes and colours are evident in their choice of flowers.
What a Praying Mantis might look like if it were human

That evening saw us take the shuttle to downtown Hoi An so we could meet up with Mrs M’s physio chum from Nottingham student days.
Downtown…starting to feel a little emptier…
Andrea and Steve
Mrs M found the “Special Cocktail” (happy hour, natch) very pleasing and became quite garrulous as the evening passed by.
Lovely food at the Mango Rooms – calamari, fried tofu roll, tempura, sliced duck in galangal with sticky rice, fresh greens with seasonal fruits…washed down with saigon beer.
Ancient Chinese bridge
The Bridge Guardian – looks a bit like our Stan with a tea towel
This town is most definitely moving into closing down mode. The quayside normally difficult to pick a way through, because of the throng of sampan owners cajoling you to take a lantern lit ride, was empty. No boats at all.
Steve and Andrea returned to their hotel by taxi, Mrs M and I walked back. Another thoroughly pleasant evening.
